15 Podcast Recommendations from The LSCP

Labor Day weekend is finally here!  This is a great time to catch up on some LSCP episodes, but what about those of you that are looking for something new?  If you’re like us, we need something good to listen to while driving, mowing the lawn, playing video games, or simply relaxing.  Here are some great podcast shows that we think you might enjoy (in no particular order):

  1. Unbelievable? with Justin Brierley
This is a podcast that has been running for over ten years and may just be the most popular Christian podcast around.  The show typical puts two opposing views of faith in (hopefully) a cordial discussion.  This has been a favorite of ours for years.
  2. The Bible Project
This is a show that believes the Bible is a unified story that leads to Jesus.  Actually, it’s more than a podcast.  They are a video production team that has literally gone global in their efforts to help people understand the message of Jesus.
  3. The Naked Bible Podcast
Don’t let the title throw you!  This podcast is for those who want answers to the Bible’s toughest questions.  Dr. Michael Heiser strips away our traditions and strives to explain the Bible in it’s own context.  This show is for those who really like content!
  4. OnScript Podcast
This is a podcast that is run by biblical scholars who interview other biblical scholars.  Get ready to geek-out!
  5. Cultish Podcast
This podcast aims at uncovering modern day cults.  They’ve discussed topics such as Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Science, New Age and more.  This show is developed by Apologia Studios, which has other video and audio programs worth checking out.
  6. Think Biblically
Hosted by Sean McDowell and Scott Rae, this podcast offers Christian perspectives on some of the most significant issues facing today’s church and culture.
  7. Stand to Reason with Greg Koukl
This is a weekly podcast that has the goal of helping Christians think more clearly about their faith so that they can defend it with accuracy and grace.
  8. Ask N.T. Wright Anything
Hosted by Justin Brierley and a sister show to Unbelievable?, Ask N.T. Wright Anything is literally just that!  N.T. Wright is an accomplished biblical scholar and historian.  He fields questions about Christianity that their listeners write in.  Like the LSCP, you can even write to them to ask your own question!
  9. Hole In My Heart Podcast
This was one recommended to us by another local youth pastor.  It is hosted by Laurie and Matt Krieg.  Laurie is the director of Hole in My Heart Ministries and Matt is a licensed therapist.  They strive to live out the gospel through their marriage to encourage others… sounds fairly typical until you realize that Laurie has always struggled with same sex attraction.  So how does their marriage work?!  You’ll just have to listen and find out!
  10. Ask Away
This show comes from Ravi Zacharias and his RZIM ministry.  This show also takes listener questions and grapples with them from a scholarly/biblical perspective.
  11. The Gospel Coalition Podcast
This is another show that interviews biblical scholars about applying the gospel to the issues we face today.
  12. The Briefing with Albert Mohler
This podcast is a daily analysis of world events through a Christian worldview.
  13. The Fringe Youth Worker Podcast
This is a quirky, yet fringey (pardon the pun) show hosted by a youth pastor and a addictions/mental health counselor of youth.  Their aim is to help others know how to reach those students who are on the fringes of society.  We find it helpful, and quite funny 🙂
  14. Peeranormal
This show is also fringey, but with a twist.  Hosted by Dr. Michael Heiser, he and his team discuss topics such as ghosts, bigfoot, zombies, quantum physics and other paranormal topics from a biblical perspective.  What we appreciate is that they don’t just spout off opinions – they discuss peer reviewed scholarly work on each topic, which in our opinion is what sets this show apart from the rest that fall into this genre.
  15. A History of Christian Theology
Is Christian history really that important?  We certainly think so!  This podcast goes through the history of Christian theology by reading and discussing writers and their works that appeared immediately after the New Testament.
